The eighty-second Strand Group event, where authors Nina Paine and Dr Ashley Sweetman will be in conversation with Visiting Professor Sir Iain Lobban to launch ‘Communicating Cyber Risk: Build Cyber Resilience Through Compelling Communication.’

Nina Paine has over 20 years’ experience in cyber security and intelligence working in two global banks (Standard Chartered and Lloyds Banking Group) and at the UK’s National Crime Agency. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information Security.

Dr Ashley Sweetman is Director of Cyber Risk Insights for Standard Chartered. He is a Visiting Research Associate with the Emerging Threats Group at the University of Oxford. Dr Sweetman completed a PhD with The Strand Group and War Studies published as ‘Cyber and the City: Securing London’s Banks in the Computer Age’ in 2022.

Sir Iain Lobban KCMG CB was the Director of the UK’s intelligence and security agency, GCHQ, from mid 2008 to late 2014, having previously served as its Director General for Operations from 2004. Iain’s advisory work for boards now spans cyber security risk management and financial crime compliance against a geopolitical backdrop.
