Stephen Lovegrove, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Defence, addressed the 27th meeting of King’s College London’s Strand Group on Tuesday 20thMarch 2018. Speaking on the topic of ‘Future Challenges for the Ministry of Defence’, the Permanent Secretary addressed issues relating to deterrence, technology, personnel and value for money in a wide-ranging and engaging speech.
Following the lecture, Mr Lovegrove answered questions from a diverse audience of King’s College London students and academics, former and current government officials, and prominent figures from the worlds of media, journalism and business. A broad range of topics were broached in the Q&A, ranging from procurement and modernisation to training and the upcoming defence review, and Mr Lovegrove spent a great deal of time answering the audience’s questions. A drinks reception followed.
